Our adventure in entrepreneurship began in 2012 when we were introduced to the project NærUng, initiated by Steinkjer Næringsselskap, at an event organized by our school. The project objective was to take young people with ideas and ambitions seriously, and give them the same opportunities as adults by introducing them to the local business community and provide guidance from experienced mentors. NærUng gave us a valuable opportunity and inspired us to start thinking about innovative technological products with the potential of improving people's lives.
Our break came in 2014 at the IoT conference Things4Web in Steinkjer. The conference drew participants from more than twenty countries, and we signed up for a workshop and entered a contest aiming to identify the best idea for a product using IoT technology. At the time we were fourteen and fifteen years old and the only adolescent participants.
By pitching the idea of KinderSafe – an innovative IoT product aiming to keep kids in Kindergartens safe and make the workday more manageable for the staff, we won the contest. Shortly after receiving our prize we learned from the news that there had been an accidental death in a Norwegian kindergarten the same day. We had stumbled upon the idea of a product with the potential to save lives, and this tragic accident really motivated us to take the idea to the next level. If we managed to save one life, it would all be worthwhile.
It has been a long journey but we have come far since 2014: We have conducted surveys, completed the proof of concept, and developed a functioning prototype which we now are ready to start testing in an actual kindergarten. We are also working on a few other ideas which we believe to have great potential, and our philosophy remains the same as is has been since day one:
We aim to develop and commercialize technology based products that focus on securing the people and things you love, while simplifying your everyday life.
